Streaming Friendly Dramaturgy: The Dragon

No. 1

Challenging Aristotle’s three-part structure (and ‘Berettermodellen’ in Danish), I introduce the streaming-friendly model ‘The Dragon’. Through my research I have learned that podcast and streaming TV audiences are much more impatient and pickier than flow consumers. Therefore, one needs to catch the attention of listeners/viewers within the few first seconds of a program for on demand consumption. Starting with an emotional highlight and stating the core idea of the program in the beginning highly increases our chances of making the listener/viewer consume the whole podcast or TV program. However, the ending of the podcast/TV program is as important as the beginning – if the closure is captivating the listener/viewer will want to binge listen/watch the next episodes. This talk exists in three levels according to your familiarity with Dragon dramaturgy. Here, you can read an article about The Dragon.

The talk sheds light on the diverse perceptions of local journalism among citizens who subscribe, those who are potential subscribers, and those who do not wish to pay for local journalism.
